Default Cometic head gaskets

Has anyone had problems with these sealing up? I have one that seems to be leaking.

they seal much better when used on a new engine. any type of imperfection can cause a leak.

Although many have used them and had no problems w/out spray... if you are having a leak then you need to use some copper spray next time to be safe. Everyone that has used the copper spray has been leak free (that I know of) with the cometics. Also make sure everything is perfectly clean and torqued down properly, and use the copper spray, then you should be fine.
I plan on using the copper spray when my cometics get here.

you better get that fixed...coolant in your oil is not a good thing.

I had heard of some seepage issues ... not any severe leakage that I've heard of, though. I went 60cc with GM MLS gaskets and the engine is dry as a bone ... left a couple ponies on the table (quench area), but, I wasn't too concerned about that.

I made sure to get off ALL of the old gasket material, and used "copper spray a gasket" crap.

No problems on a .030 cometic gasket.

Most seemingly have no problems ... just a small percentage.

Default Copper Spray is bad

I would suggest installing an MLS gasket dry. Any imperfection in the head or deck surface can cause a leak. Copper compounds are used to dissipate heat - not to seal. Only if you are burning head gaskets, should you use such a product. This is my advise based on my personal and professional experience. I have had few problems with installing gaskets dry, I have had more problems with adhesives "shifting" and causing leaks.

They were installed dry and have been fine for about 4k but it is on a nitrous motor. They are leaking coolant to the outside of the deck are and are not in the oil or combustion cambers as far as I can tell yet.

Do a 'sprited' run and then sniff your tailpipes. My driver's side smells like coolant.
