You should try German Castrol (GC). It is 0w-30 and says European Formula on the front and made in Germany on the back. This is the best off the shelf oil for the LS engine.

Mobil 1 is fine, just go with the 5w40 or 0w40. The 5w30 Mobil is on the thin side of the spectrum, and is almost a 20 wt.

And as said above, the GC 0w30 is great, if you can find it.

i dont think they make mobil one in 5-40 or 0-40. i think its 10-30 then 15-50. i would prefer to stick with synthetic oil but ill look for the castrol.

Mobil 1 makes 5w40. It's their "Truck / SVU" oil.

Yes there is a Mobil 1 0W-40. I have it in my car and it's all I will use.

Mobil 1 has both the 5w40 and the 0w40, I have used both. The 5w40 is in my 00 silverado, and the 0w40 is in the WS6. I was going to go with the 5w40 in the car as well but they discontinued it as the "Truck and SUV" formula, and pulled it from the shelves unexpectedly. Now it has said to have reappeared and is relabeled as "Turbo diesel truck" or something to that effect. It doesn't matter what the label reads, go by the viscosity itself.

Also anything that says Mobil "1" means synthetic, if it was conventional it would just be labeled "Mobil".
