Default Cam and stall question

Here's my deal I currently have a Cam Motion 224/228 .585/.585 114+4 cam, with the necessary new valve springs, push rods, oil pump, and timing set. The question is I want to do a 3000-3400 stall. I know with the stock converter its going to be a pain in the butt to hold it stopped at a light with the new cam. I want to get the cam in and do a stall but I currently don't have the money for the install and converter. So if I were to install the cam and run the stock the converter would extra stress be put on the trans causing it to fail earlier? In short would it be better to wait till I can do the stall or would the few months with the stock converter be ok?
Thanks!

IMHO, i would wait and do it all at once considering you wont take full advantage of the cam without the stall.

IMO...I would do the stall first. then come back and do the cam. I know you said you have all the parts, but still. It is just my opinion.

I would wait till you have the money and do it all at once.. I drove around on a stock stall and a big cam and it plain sucks, you will be tired of it in 2 days..

id do the stall first just so you could tell the difference between stock and stall'd LS1. Then after the WOW factor do the cam.

i agree with above. as a matter of fact i did stall first then cam.
for the cam you will be using, anything from 3000-3500 will be perfect
