Default ls1 burning oil

i bought my first ls1 camaro at the first of this year and i love it. the only thing is that i have noticed that about once a month the oil is a little low, but there is no evidence of any leaks. a buddy of mine said there is a rummor that all ls1's burn oil, even from the begining. he said to get on this site and ask if anyone know about removing the intake and there is something that can be done to the pvc to stop the burining of oil. any info would be greatly appreciated.

Some ls1's do burn some oil due to the rings you will also have piston slap. You can also pull the throttle body and see if you have oil in the intake from the pcv. 2 options get a catch can or you can do a ls6 pcv convertion.

Well personally my 98 LS1 with 167,000 burns no oil still to this day. But lots of people say there engines burn oil, alot of people also put the catch cans on , I changed my intake just a month ago over to the LS6 intake and there was no puddle of oil in it or anything. I think the ls1 may just be picky as to what type of oil and how hard you drive it. I am real easy on mine and only really run it hard every now and then. Some people drive the crap out of them and the constant higher RPMs would cause alot more oil to go thru the PCV and into the intake so maybe that is why some have problems and some don't. The catch can will not stop you from consuming oil as far as needing to put more in, but it will help you keep from burning it and keep it from getting in your intake. Do a search for catch can and there are some good writeups on how to make your own.

When I install my LS6 intake, I will also install the LS6 PCV. That will help with oil getting through the PCV. If that doesn't help I'll get a catch can.

I was bringing in quit a bit of oil till i switched to the LS6 PCV, no i bring barley any. But i still burn about half a quart every 3k miles. Car runs a like a beast so doesnt really bother me, i just keep a quart in the car.
