For you typical shortblock...your looking at 2800+ for a forged shortblock. Could go all the way up to 5k. just depends on your brand choice of internals.

just need to research on what kinda motor your looking for (ie stock cube...stroker) and call a sponsor and talk it over with them.

2k is cheap for a forged SB I got mine from texas speed for $3100, and like blkws6 said you could go into the 5k+ range. Also if you are keeping stock cubes go with a stock crank forged rods/pistons. There are guys on here pushing 1000 hp on the stock crank.

Lingenfelter sells a balanced and blueprinted LS6 block with the stock crank, forged pistons and katech rod bolst, stock rods. Unless your going boost or HIGH nitrous, it's sufficient for many people on this board. The stock crank is very stout and when you add the katech rod bolts ( eq. to ARP ) you can rev to 7K with no worries. Food for thought, I paid $2100 for it. Great shortblock.

all that work and they kept stock rods in there? Seems pointless to do that. Dont know what the cost difference is between forged rods and ls6 rods but I think people would feel better paying an extra $200 for the forged rods and being done with it. To be honest, most people buy forged assemblies to spray on em and boost em.

Most in expensive method is to use the mahle piston / SBC rod combo available on ebay (or whatever pistons and scat I beam rods). Hone your block and reuse the stock crank.

Are you sure they are using Katech bolts??
Upon my inquiry I was told they are 2001+ stock bolts.(Tim Dyer)
Katech's are available extra.
