Cam Spec's For Dummies I have a 04 Tahoe (around 5400lbs) with a stock HD pick-up 6.0 short block under AFR 205's with Dynatech headers, stock Escalade cat back, stock intake, stock air box, stock conv, 3.73, 32" tall tire, LS1 Edit tune. The problem is the cam> recommended/installed was a Comp 3712R .562/.564 218/220 on 114. The RWHP (only about 200 miles on engine) was 321. Granted it is 4WD, so there is some power losses because of the transfer case, etc... I still believe is it short on power.
I installed a 2500 stall conv, Corsa cat-back, gutted the stock air box, K&N filter, put 8K miles on it, and polished up the tune with EfiLive> RWHP is now at 368. The mid range is torque excellent 3000 - 4500, but HP starts to fall off after 5900 rpm.
Should I have expected more or is this average?
I am finishing up installing 4.11's, loosening up the conv to 2800 and
contemplating a cam change >in the range of .580/590 lift with more duration on a tighter lobe sep.
Any input will be greatly appreciated.
