OIL CONSUMPTION LS1 2001 FORMULA 24K MILES.
I have to add 1 qrt of oil every 3000 miles.
The dealer ship said this is acceptable, and to try Synthetic oil. Should I try a different Dealer Ship or live with it?
Does any one think Synthetic oil will make a difference?

Re: OIL CONSUMPTION LS1 That is probably in the acceptable range, depending on how hard the car is driven. The '01 seems the most prone to consumption.
I think your dealer is on crack if he thinks the oil consumption will get better with Synthetic. My money is on it getting worse with synthetic.
Really one quart is not so bad over 3K miles, Some have as bad as 1QT for 1K miles. I would leave well enough alone unless it seems to be getting worse. Good luck

Re: OIL CONSUMPTION LS1 My '00Z28 burned about a quart per 3,000 miles when I used 5w30 Mobil 1 Synthetic. Now I used 10w30 Mobil 1 Synthetic and I've yet to see it burn oil. I switched about 4-5 oil changes ago ~ 18,000 miles or so.

Re: OIL CONSUMPTION LS1 1 qrt every 3k is very normal. I have 2 01's and they use to use the same amount as yours. I cured my oil consumption by installing a greddy catch can inline on the pcv line. That stopped about all my useage. My 00 Ws6 never used a drop so I can agree with for some reason the 01's seem to get alot of oil through the pcv system.
Re: OIL CONSUMPTION LS1 Oil consumption will get worse with synthetic. Mine did not use oil for the first 10,000 miles with regular oil. After that i switched to Mobil 1 10w30 and now i use 1qt/3000 miles.
