Default Stock Cam Questions? Please Help

Here is the deal my 98 camaro SS M6. I need new retainers. I do not want to do a cam right now that is coming at the end of the summer. Is there any upgraded Retainers, Valve spring and pushrods that I can run with the stock cam. Please let me know and some advice also. Thanks a lot

you want to get springs that will support the lift of the cam.

It will not hurt to go ahead and upgrade the valvetrain now. You also want to get some hardened pushrods.

It'd be fine to get upgraded valve train with stock cam.

I'd recommend the 918 springs, titanium retainers, and hardened stock length pushrods. Use the stock rockers.

You'll be all set for the cam install later (as long as you don't go too crazy with the cam.)

Why do you need new retainers?

Seems like a lot of work in a mis-mathed way. 918 springs are ok but if you go for a cam with more lift you'll need double sprints like 921's or simliar.

Personally I'd just wait and do it all at once. Most companies (TSP/Thunder Racing) offer a cam kit where you get the cam plus all the parts you need to complete the swap.

Provided none of the parts are on backorder for a month! Such as the crane titanium retainers!!!

But doing it all at once just seems more logical and you'll prolly save some money in the long run.
