New here, need some help
I installed a racing chip into my ECU the other day, and the engine idle jumped up to around 1,500 rpm. The chip came from my brother's 1991 Firebird 305 TBI. Everything is working fine like the chip is supposed to do, except that the engine idle is WAY up there. I'm afraid that with that kind of rotation goin on in the engine, sooner or later it could do some damage to the transmission when I put it in gear. My brother's car never idled that high before, so I'm guessing it's because the chip wasnt exactly designed for my car. Someone DID tell me, however, that the ECU could just be learning the new chip, and the rpm's should go down after a little while...
anyone know what's really goin on?? I could really use your input, thanks!!
