Default TRak cam/LS2 heads

Hey everyone. I pulled my heads so that I can make sure that my cam is degreed perfectly this time, since last time, apparently I was a little off and had myself a Z27, instead of a Z28. So in order to get all my cylinders helping me out here, I need to re-degree the cam...I'm doing it by making absolutely sure the #1 piston is Top Dead Center. Since the heads are off, I figured I could get away with spending a few bucks and picking up a little more horsepower. What I found were brand new 243 heads for pretty cheap, as well as a set of the sodium-filled/hollow LS6 valves. I was told by Patrick G. that I could safely run heads milled .030" with stock-size valves with my cam and its monstrous (.648" intake!) lift. So I'm thinking that going from stock 853 LS1 heads to 243's, milled .030", with LS6 valves, I should be able to pick up about 20 or so more horsepower without spending serious money or compromising my P-to-V clearance. Sound like a good idea? How much do you think I will gain? I'll already be going from 10.1:1 to 10.6:1 compression with the heads alone, and the milling should bring me around 10.8:1-ish I believe. Opinions please...

I would like to see thoughts on this as I am selecting the heads to go with my Comp 234/240 .598/.608 on an 04 LS1.

How long will it last? I don't see anything shortening its life. I would probably only run it all for a max of 10K, as I'm sure I'll get bored by then and I'm hearing the realm of forced induction calling my name. The only maintentance I believe I'd ever need is new springs.

if you plan on doing this you should slap some clay on the piston to check clearance. cause your going to be pushing it very close with that cam. do it right the first time and save yourself the headaches. TTYL brotha
