Default oil temp

what is the normal oil temp for a LS1? I think I may be running hot. What is too high?

This question is aimed at those that have oil temp gauges, or have good experience with oil temps in these cars.

Before oil cooler I was at 195 - 205
After oil cooler I am at 178 - 190
Those #'s are cruising at 75 mph on the Expressway.
As soon as I put my foot into it for an extended amount of time at higher RPMS the temps climb. Before they would get to 235+ and after the oil cooler have never gotten above 209. Let me tell you I was ripping and running in 90 degree temps last week and after about 30 miles or so the temps had only gotten up to 209. I was surprised. With the EWP from Meziere coolant temps were only 171 using the 160* T-stat. Hope this helps.

cuz i'm running 235-245 on the freeway in 85 degree weather. I was thinking of installing an oil cooler, but its pretty expensive, and so is that radiator you have.

Well for 1300 you get everything. Lines, cooler, and a radiator that's capacity is 50% (roughly) larger. No issues here with more power then your setup is making at this point (I think, not dissing ya) and no issues in last weeks 90 + temps. Just a suggestion. Hope it works out for ya. Good luck.

In 70-80 degree weather my oil temps are usually around 205-210 in normal driving, and if I push it a little bit it'll get up to about 220. The hottest I've ever seen it was 230F the other day in 90 degree heat when I had the AC on and was stuck in traffic.

i'm just really worried cuz with mild outside temps, the oil is very close to 250 degrees......and thats way out of the norm for f-bodies from what I'm told. I want to find the problem causing this, before I buy a $925 radiator.

Also, what the hell makes those lines worth $300????
