RTV in that area will just turn into a nasty gel-like substance.. it wont seal properly, and if its there long enough, it oozes out and into the engine.
its not made for that use anyway.
there are literally 100s of thread sealers out there that work just fine.. rather then just name my favorate one and have someone disagree, i thought id just mention that RTV is a bad idea, and you should persue other solutions.
my prefered one is Permatex thread sealent with Teflon... but there are others out there that work just as well

In fact I used to completely leave out the POS front and rear intake pieces on old SBCs after reading a Hot Rod article claiming it eliminated an issue with this area prone to oil leaks. It worked great. Brandon
Ask me how I know.....
Anyway, I used permatex teflon 3K miles ago and it's fine, no oil loss. Make sure all parts are clean.
