im curious on a LS6 cam swap

Default im curious on a LS6 cam swap

i have the block and was thinking about getting the cam but dont know what all is needed. i did a all out cam swap on my last LS1 so am familiar with it but dont know what is needed (if anything other than just the cam) is needed to swap from an LS1 to LS6 cam. pushrods? springs? oilpump? chain? i'm thinking since its so mild and comes from a very similar motor it might just slide in and be ready togo but i dont know. anyone?

I would def go ahead and slap a timing chain,oil pump. Your going too need some better springs and I would get hardend pushrods..

id like to know some info on this to, what about rocker arms? and what would the perfomance be between the ls1 and ls6?

it is the same. You should put in a chain and either an ls-6 or a blueprinted oil pump. If you have the money, pushrods and some springs wouldn't be a bad idea. We have done cams on ls6's and ls1's, it is the same procedure(much easier in a corvette), so if you've done it once your gonna be ok.

with the LS6 cam, you will need the LS6 springs and retainers to be able to rev it to 6400. you will also want to have some 7.425 pushrods. Don't worry about the chain and pump if you don't have the money.

typically the swap gets you about 30ish whp. not much for a cam swap but keeps it calm and keeps a smooth idle. i'm just curious b/c i dont want to take this car to the extreme i did my last one. just trying to get a few more ponies
