Default lost power after cam install

Ok lets cover the basics quick..

Previous
98 M6 114k miles, TSP LT's (no cats), LS6 intake, CAI, TB bypass, and corsa exhaust

340RWHP

Now... all the above plus
PRC dual springs, TSP harden pushrods, TSP 228R cam, LS2 timing chain, and Ls6 oil pump (ported)

Just got off the dyno.. stopped at 4kRPMs because it didn't sound right.. timing was put in place to get a good run out of it...tuner figured should have done 370ish on the first pull.. instead at 4k i was only at 300. What could the problem be?

Also a quick question... what should my oil pressure with a ported pump be on a cold idle?

Cam timing off a tooth would be a possibility. Who did the install? What length pushrods?

I'd go with that one too, it happened to me. The engine just wouldn't make power over 4000rpm and after dropping the exhaust to ensure the cats weren't buggered (which they weren't), did more checking and found that the cam was off by one sprocket tooth. Once adjusted, it was no worries.

Good luck with it,

Macca

My old TSP oil pump had 35-40psi cold/hot at idle, 50ish during cruise and 60+ during hard throttle. I'm with some of the guys above, the cam might not be lined up correctly. How does it idle and just cruising how does it drive?

my tuner played with it so it drives ok.... but at first the car wouldn't run at idle... still kinda rough for the size of cam... well i guess illl pull everything off (what a bitch) and double check the timing chain.

What year is the car are you getting any Knock or Knock retard? i know for some like 98's KR is common after cam installs typically 4* retard. or maybe your exhaust i banging or something

The problem lies somewhere in your timing i would say so i would try any possible way to see if it is off.

My money is on the cam being installed off a tooth.....I have done that before and had similar results. I ran fine just didn't make any power up top
