What are the REAL differences between the 2? I know the C5 LS1 is rated at higher HP but from everything I had ever read there was no real difference in "actual" power output.

Only thing I can see is the drive-by-wire throttle body on the C5 LS1 vs cable throttle body on the f-body LS1.

General consensus is that everything else is the same.

from what i understand the cam in fbody is actually slightly larger. (not that you would notice it though. the difference is so small)

I heard this as well that it is the camshaft and the air intake but that changed in the 01-02 model F-body which came with the LS6 intake.

no EGR on Vettes, not that it makes a power difference
the intake and exhaust probably flow alittle better on the vettes

according to ALLDATA the camshaft lobes on a 2000 OEM Corvette camshafts have .277/.281 lift and on a 2000 OEM Camaro camshaft it is .292/.292 **this is lobe lift not valve lift**

Differences in the engine that I've heard of (most mentioned)

oil pan
throttle body (electric)
intake manifold (no egr provision)
rod bolts (stronger, I believe)

Yes, infact i hear claims that case as early as late 2000 also got the updated rod bolts. And the update rod bolts were the same wether they were in an f-body ls1 or the c5 z06 ls6 motor. This allowed the LS6 to spin to 6600 from the factory.
