Default What to go with big stroker or 414"?

I was wanting more power over my 395" 489 rwhp I have now, plus this motor is a couple years old. Should I go with a resleeved block and LS7 heads or just get a LS2 block and go for 414 cu.in. I would be satisfied with 550 to 560 rwhp and I have seen some 402s get that. I was thinking with the better casting heads and all it would be cheaper to go with the 4.125 stroke LS2. What do you guys think. Or should I spend the extra for a resleeved block for 440 cu. in. I am not looking for an all out 600 rwhp car jus mid 500s would be ok with me. Either case I could reuse my crank I have now.

I'd bore the LS2 block 4.020" and reuse your 4.125 crank. Use the extra money for some bad *** heads and you should hit your goal easily.

What cubic inches would come from the LS2 bore and a 4.125 crank?

It's a good bit over square for a blower. Adding the bigger bore will help balance things out and allow a better head.

I would do the ls2 block with some ls7 heads. The flow on the ls7 intake is worth it.

doesnt he need a bigger bore than the ls2 block to support ls7 heads?

if u want to be 100% assured of getting 550+, go ahead and do a 447 or something similar.

Texas Speed put out a 402 that made like 540 hp or something close to that.

Your right. I was thinking of the big bore block sleeved. 4.100 bore is minimum. I would go as big as you can now, because you will always want more later. ETP LS7 heads will work on a 4" bore if you want to stay with a ls2 stock block.

I'm all about going bigger, as you can tell from my sig, but for the power your wanting, you don't need all that stuff. The 410-420 ci range with ETP 225's/ or AFR 225 and a ported FAST will get you what you want. Use the $3k you save on a block for something else you need.

Check out the l92 block. It is supposed to be available soon at sdpc. It comes with a 4.065 bore and can be used with all the ls2 covers and gaskets.
