Bent push rod... Causes?
Bent push rod... Causes? Buddy got his 2002 LS1/4l60e into his 72 Chev shorty and its now on the road. The engine/tranny have 10,xxx miles on it.
Last night we were driving around and stared to hear a ticking noise. The truck only saw 5500rpm MAX that night(only night its been out) Before it never ticked in the garage and just going around the block either.
We pulled the valve covers off and the #8 Cylinder, farthest back rocker assembly(can't remember if exhaust or intake) has a bent push rod. We replaced it and put 5 miles on it just to have another ticking...
What I'm wondering is what could be causing this? Some people are mentioning if it has ever had an over rev the valvesprings could be done causing the bent rod? I personally think lifter but who knows? Oh ya, the engine sat for 1.5 years but again, no ticking while in the garage running for 20 minutes, nor when it went around the block a good 6 times(about 10 miles total).
