Symptoms of collapsed lifters How can you tell if your lifters are collapsing @ high RPM? Would a noisey valve train after a 7k sprint mean your lifters have collapsed?

Phil,
I would check for an exhaust leak with a spray bottle first
and
then pull your valve covers and look at the inside springs of your dual springs.
You may have broke one inside springs or fractured one (very hard to spot).

Ticking that comes and goes wether it is warmed up or not is a good sign of a collapsed lifter.
Try driving your car in 5th gear and get it up to about 2000 rpm. Or if you have an auto...try to hold it at 2000 rpm when you are cruising. Keep it at this rpm until you hear it. Mine will usually start ticking if I do this after about 20 seconds. I have a collapsed/defective lifter. it doesnt seem to malfunction at the higher rpms...sustained low rpm cruising is what makes it show up.
