Default Rebuild my 98 block, good idea or no?

I've been contemplating rebuilding the motor in my 98 Z28. It's got 80k on the clock. Just wondering what other people think about rebuilding a 98 block for race purposes, as they typical suffer from oiling issues. Can the block be rebuilt to reliably handle a couple seasons of bracket racing? Anyone been there/done that with a 98 block?

Here's the planned parts list.

AFR 205 heads
LS6 Intake
Ported Stock TB
Stock Crank
Katech Rod Bolts
LS6 Ported Oil Pump
LS2 Timing Set
Cylinders Honed .0005
JE Forged Pistons w/ valve reliefs
Rods (undecided)
Cam Torquer 2 232/234 112lsa (possibly going bigger)
New set of lifter trays drilled for better oil flow
Stock replacement lifters
Stock rockers
11.0:1 CR
Probably some N2O in the future as well, nothing big. 200 shot tops.

Is it worth the time and money or should I just fly cut my stock pistons, slap on the heads, and run it till it pukes? My main concern is the rod bolts, and if I'm gunna do the rod bolts I might as well pull the motor and do everything right. I hate working on the motor in the car, it would be much easier to pull it over the winter and do all the work on an engine stand. That and I plan on replacing my T56 with a TH400, so all the more reason to pull it all out. Comments, suggestions? Let me know what you think.

I rebuilt my 98 motor. It isn't a totally bad idea but you need to have a goal in mind. For me I had a 224 cam I was putting back in it and thats all I wanted. I have a set of 3.903 pistons in mine. I say go for it.

Yes for the Hp levels you're talking. No if you plan over 600 rwhp.
