Vertical Scratch in 2 cylinders, why?
Would this happen over time or right away?
Car got tuned on a dyno when it had over 500-600 miles on it and made great power, 3,000+ miles later, power seemed/felt down. Did a compression check and leak down, found that 2 cylinders were way low. Pulled heads off and found a scratch that you can feel in the cylinders that had low compression and leak down on those same cylinders.
Happened to me as well, on a motor that was built last August. The thing that sucks is that you probably can't bore it out anymore, meaning you have to have it resleaved, or a new block. I just saw it as a chance to uprgraded to a 402.

What about if the ring gap wasn't set right, too small? Once it got up to temp and drove it hard, would the rings expand to the point where they would touch at the gap, bow out and scratch the walls?
