Default Heads need to be reworked

I had S2 heads built over a year ago..they were built up with 2.055/1.6 valves (back when everyone thought bigger was better). They put down **** for numbers (track and dyno). Cam is a comp 218/224 .535/.528 114LSA with Crane 1.8 RR...cam probably isn't the issue; might swap it out anyway. Allot of the research I've done points to low velocity and CR.

Do any of our sponsor rework heads?

Will it be more of a patch job, or will the heads be comparable to a new set of heads from (GTP, TEA, LPE, MTI, Speed, etc. (sorry if I missed anyone...no particular order)).

If so, is it cheaper than buying a new set?

I'm in Phoenix, anyone close by?

Thanks in advance for the responses.

What does it run at the track or dyno?

From what I have seen, crappy heads tend to act like stock heads. Minimal gains, and not much of an effect on mph. But crappy heads to me are ones that really don't have any porting, just some bowl work and not much else, who did those heads?

360/360 on the dyno, traps 106!!! with a 12.6 ET (street tires).

The car's an A4 '98 SS with lid, LS6 intake, abovementioned H/C, SLP long tubes and custom true dual exhaust (dumps before the axle).

The dyno graph shows 360 at ~3k in tq and then falls steadily from there. 360rwhp hits ~6400rpm. 350+rwhp from 5800-6900rpm. My hp curve is flat instead of my tq curve

The car feels strong down low, but can't breath up top.

The heads were purchased from Strope Speed Shop...don't get me started on them.

do you have any flow numbers. and did you do a cylinder leak down to make sure your valves are seating i had the same situation.i pulled my hair out all summer looking for loss of power and i found out my valves seats were to small for my valves.

Try getting them milled. Then from there go get them flow tested and get a cam that matches it. If that dosent work thoesnheads are really screwed

You should get them flowed, and the ports CC'd. If the ports have been hogged out too much, no head shop is going to be able to get your velocity back. If they just need some better bowl work, I would suggest you give Jay a call at Absolute Speed. He's terrific.

Thanks for the replies. I need to sort out some tuning issues right now. Once I get that working, I'll pull the heads and get them tested. I don't like to change too many things at once (inevitably, something goes wrong...it's allot easier to troubleshoot when you only change 1 or 2 things).
