Default collapsed lifter, now backfire issue

I have been getting a backfire issue when I let off the gas pedal. This issue started after I collapsed a lifter. I replaced the lifters and the knock noise went away, but I still have backfire issue when I left off the gas (above 3,000 rpm).

Could I have damaged my camshaft?

Thanks
