I'd be suspect he didn't install the rear plug as well.

If he didn't R&R the motor then you might have to yank it and bring it to him. I guess I'd prove to him he didn't install the plugs, install them, and go from there. If it has damaged bearings it won't take long for it to surface.

How long have you ran the motor without any oil pressure. I'd snap a picture and send it to him to show him that it doesn't have a plug.

Take a picture and send an email to him. To be safe I wouldn't say anything about possible damage in the first email. You don't want him on the defensive...you want him to admit to it. If the bearings are crap...yeah it's his fault. After all......the guy already told you he put them in.

If the bearings are messed up you should know very soon.If you don't hear the knocking....you'll see metal in the oil.

I ran it a couple different spurts, probably a total of 30 seconds. Oil made it to the filter so there had to be a tiny bit of psi

Here is exactly what he told me. I called him and told him that i have zero oil pressure and i asked him about these two plugs. He told me " if we removed the plugs, then we always put them back in." I told him that I didnt want to take it all back apart to check, he then said " i cant 100% guarantee that they are in". He told me that he thought it was an electrical issue and to check the wiring. this was 7/10.

I want to make sure i do everything right so that if i have any issue with my build bc of this, that it is his fault. I dont know if he has an email adress to send a picture. I took a picture with my cell phone and u can see that it is missing. It is a business, a machine shop, not just a one man operation.

I ordered the front plug and a new O ring bc im already in there. I am going to plug the hole, replace the o ring, and check for pressure. If I have pressure, cool, ill check for bearing damage like a hawk. If i still do not have pressure, Do I go to him and tell him the rear plug is not there and he needs to take care of this?????? Im so sick of taking things apart after there already assemble

What other advice do you guys have?? Sorry if this is annoying but I want this to be over with and want to know how to approach the builder.

Thanks

haha its just a machine shop here locally. here is something i noticed among all the research i did. on the rear of the block there is a copper hex head plug located near the oil filter. behind that gives u access to look up and see if the rear oil galley plug (barbell) is installed. you cant install it from here but atleast u can look and see if its in. ill be checking that real soon............... good thing i waited and didnt go through the hell of removing the tranny to check it.

ok so i drained the oil bc i wanted to check for metal glitter in the oil from the bearings. there was a small amount of gunk on the magnetic plug, a tiny shard of metal, but nothing to raise concern or to show bearing issues. the problem im having is the color of the oil. the engine ran for a max of 30 seconds or so, the oil is very dark. it has a slight green hue to it as well. never seen this before.

what should oil look like on a brand new motor? i used a ton of black assembly lube on the cam, and im not sure what the builder used for lube, it might have been green or red.......

one thing to keep in mind before answering to this would be that bc the galley plug was missing, i dont think enough oil would have gotten to the bearings for there to be metal in the oil...........

I would tell the shop owner to fix it the correct way, including tearing it back down and checking the bearings and replacing if need be.
