cam too big or too small

i want to get a cam, but i plan to get a 454. i only want to buy a cam once... i dont care how nasty the cam will be in the ls1. the nastier the better as long as it moves . i just wondering if my choice is big enough to make pretty good power for a 454c.i. .. here are specs of one im looking at - 238/240 .605/.609 @112.. i was also thinking maybe ms4 but i dont know the spec's on it. i also just ordered a 100 wet shot to play with..never put a cam in an ls1 yet, but i have installed a few cams in my 84 355 even thought they looked nasty on paper, i always wanted more.

That's too small.

Here's the smallest cam we put in a 454.

Profile # .006" .050" .200" Lobe Valve
Intake Lobe: LSHR75375 300° 245° 161° .375" .637"
Exhaust Lobe: LSHR76370 304° 247° 163° .370" .629"

To small, hell im running a Crane hyd..650/.650-250/266-112 +3 in my new LS2 418cid.

d@^^<^... what will a cam that big be like in an ls1 engine?? with that smallest for a 454 cam does it still make good numbers with the 454 or in other words how does it compare to bigger cams.

Do yourself a favor and buy a good popular cam like the Torquer, MS3, TR230 or so on, drive till you get your new motor built, and then you can sell your popular cam easily in the FS section and get the correct cam for your 454. A cam that big in a stock motor will be a slouch. DCR would be horrible and the combo would be completly mismatched. 2 completly diffrent motors require 2 completly diffrent cams.

I'm trying to find #'s for it in a 454.
In the 427 GMMG engines it makes 626hp and 595ftlbs on the engine dyno.

When I get some #'s for a 454, I'll let you know.

I seriously doubt it would be a good idea to run the same cam in a 346 as a 454. That doesn't even make sense to me????

As for the 346, those specs look pretty good. The Ms4 is 238/242 111lsa, and either .649 or .651/.610... I just bought one, but haven't installed it yet.
