Scraping the old gasket. Wicked easy. I read about how it would take hours to rid the deck of old head gasket but mine was so easy it took only 10 minutes. What up with that?
I sprayed some gasket remover on there and wiped it clean with a rag - all done!

I noticed your car is a 2002. All 2002 LS1/LS6 cars came with the easier to remove MLS (Multi Layer System) gaskets. Much like the REUSABLE MLS Cometics. Prior 2002 head gaskets are much harder to remove.

This part of the dis-assembly is going very smoothly. I vacuumed about a gallon of coolant from of the heads, it was nice to not have it go pissing all over the place when the heads came off.
