Default LS1 heads worth porting?

Are LS1 heads worth porting to put them on a 383 with a TReX?? If not, what heads will work the best with that combo?

the ls1 heads even with a decent port job are not goign to be in your best interest. You can get a set of ls6 heads pretty cheap from one of our sponsors. You could pick up a set from patriot perfromance and then get the worked over and you will be happy.

Patriot has 243 heads new, ported, and assembled for under $1k. There have been a couple threads about it in here.

I personially wouldn't use the PP heads or a ported LS1 head.
I just can't see the reason to spend a extra 3000+ dollars doing a 383 bottom and and being cheep on the top end.
Sure the Patroit heads will work and work well but so does the stock 346.
Why go with a bad *** bottom end and a decent/good top end?

because the bottom end ran all the money away to leave none left for the top end

If I were you, I'd just reuse the stock heads until I had the bones for a better top end. Since you gotta do it twice, might as well save as much as you can on the first round.

Budget was never brought up in his question.
If he spent all his money on the bottom and and uses a cheep top end then he will have many stock bottom end H/C cars running right past him.
