I'm going to say this isn't good. Metal of that size isn't normal. IMHO, I would be looking into having the engine tore down to find out where this is coming from. It's cheaper to tear down and repair than to replace the whole thing. Shavings that size could cause your oil pump to fail and that could lead to total engine failure... spun bearings.... well, pretty much boom!
I would say try to salvage what you can now, instead of ending up with a couple hundred pounds of scrap like I have... Good luck!

What's your oil pressure and oil level been like? Any noises from your motor? Can you take a picture of what came out?

should not be metal in the oil. I spun a bearing last year and you could hear it like a belt seizing up. wasnt the greatest day.lol

I wouldn't wait until I heard a noise before I got worried. By the time you hear a noise it could be too late... It was for me. 5000 RPM doing a burnout and boom. No metal shavings, no warnig what so ever. If you are finding 1/2 inch long metal shavings in your oil consider that a big red light on your dash. Check your engine!

they might have been a little smaller but if i can find them ill try. the motor has 73000 miles on it and has been using royal purple/ mobil synethic in it. i dont really hear any noise. i know that my valve train is quite loud. i guess ill just have to talk to my local shop then . thanks.
