Can you drive a cammed A4 with no tune like the M6 guy's do?
I have to go to another city to get tuned about 100 miles. Thanks G

 

Depends on cam. Smaller cams, yes. Larger cams, no. What size do you have?

 

I have a fm13 on a 114 lobe sep.

 

It can be done but it takes some getting used to. When i did my cam i drove it around for like 3 month with out a tune. I drilled out my throttle plate which fixed it a little bit. I think that what causes it to die out is the IAC can not compensate fast enough just my opnion. My cam is a comp cam 224/228 581/581 on a 115 LSA hope this helps.

 

my car with a F13 114 ran, but not hardly with the fairly stock tune. it died a few times, but sounded awesome with the extremely rough idle

Practice your two footed driving technique.

 

yeah if u plan on going anything near like what i have it will definitely require some two footed driving, but i also had an untuned stall at the time so mine could of been worse off than just a cam untuned.

 

I'll be putting in a 3600 stall at the same time.

 

That should help. Stock stall, cammed, untuned was a bitch for me.

 

When you install the F13, along with that 3600 stall, raise the idle some also. One hundred miles is nothing, and you should get there (provided traffic is good), in about an hour and a half, to two hours. You'll be fine...

 

It won't idle, coming to a stop can be a bitch. Since you have the stall, just keep your foot on the gas to make it idle

I drove 50 miles on my TRaK cam (mostly highway thank God) to get to the tuner.

 

yeah def. watch it when you come to a stop..almost definite it will cut off. aslong as you 2 foot it you should be ok... hope its not stop and go, but highway driving should be ok.

Seriously though, provided he raises the idle some, and keeps the A/C off, he should be fine...

 

I would adjust the idle air screw to help avoid cutting off when stopping but other than that you should be fine as long as you use both feet to drive.

 

Unplug your AC compressor and turn on your AC.. it will raise you idle with no load on the engine... also helped me

 

I installed a TR224 and drove from FL to GA 325 miles (interstate all the way)
It ran great at 70+ mph, but died everytime I came to a stop. The long drive "killed" one of my O2 sensors which had to be replaced before I could tune.

 

mine did the same thing with the MS3, also put in a fuddle 3400 stall. helped out alot.

 

It's a total of 9 miles of street driving. The rest is all I-10. G
