in my book it says to torque the oil pan bolts to rear cover to 18 ft-lbs. on LS1Howto it say to do them at 106 in-lbs. guess what i did because i didn't have internet at my shop...the 18 ft-lbs. i have stripped out the bolt bore in the rear over in that one bolt bore. can i fix it? can i fix it with a tap? or do i have to get a new rear cover?

When you helicoil it make sure you drill it out nice and straight....take your time and do it right or you'll be buying new parts. It is not that hard just takes patience. Good luck.

Helicoil will also be stronger than stock. Really easy to install. As Chino says, keep it straight. Use a series of bits to get to the correct size. Then it will stay a straight hole more easily.
