Default How much louder

So how much louder is a cammed car than not. My mods are in the sig and I havent gotten to hear any cammed f-bods. Not too many around. I am picking up an MS4. I HAVE listened to ls1sounds.com. After hearing the header changes on the website. And hearing them in person, its not too flattering. HEHE So let me know some opinions. Thanks Guys

i would say a good comparison would be: the amount of loudness that lt's has over stock manifolds (considering the same catback was used while comparing) is about the same amount of loudness your cam will add.

thats really hard to say, does it make sense?

I have the MS4 pacesetter LT ORY E-cutout and a flowmaster catback. My cutout is open about 90% it's tone noise level definalty changed with the cam. Thru the muffler it is louder at idle for sure. but driving and WOT I don't think it changed much at all as compared to how it sounded before the cam. But I haven't paid real specific attention to the sound with the cutout closed I might drive with it closed today when I get home and pay close attention to it and let you know then.

IMO it will be a good bit louder then stock. The idle will be higher and it will have a choppier sound which will add to the sound volumn. It's badass though!!

If you get a healthy size cam it will be noticeably louder, especially at idle.

A big cam matched to a good exhaust (personally I love duals) sounds wicked.

okay I dorve it down the raod a couple times yesterday with the cutout closed. to me inside the car with the windows down the tone has slightly changed and it might have gotten a little louder. My friend who was standing in my driveway when I made a couple runs past my house. Said he thought it had gotten a little louder but not a major change. but the idle has definately made the biggest change. Still I would not even be close to worrying if it is to loud if a cop where beside me at a stop light with the cutout closed, now open is a different matter.

It will be slightly louder. With a bigger cam you are pushing more air, so theoretically it will be louder. My friend just sold his T/A that had a cam, ORY to a single 3" bullet, Holy poop was that LOUD. You would think the LORD was coming.

There is more to it than pushing more air. While more power means more air/fuel, bigger bang and more noise the increase a cam creates at idle, when it has positive overlap, goes beyond that.

I'm curious how much louder my car will be. Right now I have Pacesetter long tubes, off-road X, and Dynomax Bullets dumped. My cam choice is going back and forth between the Torquer V.2 and the other TSP cam 231/237 or the 233/239 (all of them will be on a 112 LSA). Just by adding the cam, think the cops are going to be giving me the evil eye while they sit next to me at the red light?

g5x2 in my old ss made a big difference.
And once I got the idle tuned right it wasn't much choppier than my old fm13.

Do you have any sound clips of the MS4?

Warning: Sound is crappy as this was taken in a windy environment with a digital camera set to video:

My car: Jet-Hot longtubes, 3" duals with X-pipe, dynomax bullets, dumps, MS3 (237/242 .603/.609 113). The video comes through pretty quiet, might want to turn your volume up.

And no, the video does not do it justice.
