I got to hear BlackHawk J's car after the cam went in, and the idle was VERY smooth and stock-sounding. I wouldn't have thought it was cam'd if I hadn't known better.

So SS4Luck, I would say it sounds essentially just like a stock motor.

BlackHawk J, you have a very nice car by the way!

Is this cam a better choice than the"old man" cam that they also offer? Does anyone know how the two cams compare?

Thanks

Thanks for the compliments. One of the gentlemen there told me that they tested it on a stock LS1 and the cam made 360 hp to the wheels. I just drove out there today (forgot my stock parts there, oops), and I can say it pulls real nicely in 6th on the highway. There is definately a seat of the pants feel and the sound effects are cool too! I dont have a sound clip but I can tell you it racks up bonus points in the sound department.

Thunder Racing Custom "CheaTR" Camshaft - 214/230 .601/.578 117 LSA
With that much lift there is no way I would even think of using stock springs.

The cheaTR cam package comes with comp cams dual valve springs, titanium retainers and new push rods. So you can replace most of the valvetrain and breath easy.

wow, hot topic, and loads o info with just the 31,,,heres another question about the cheater,,,how would this compare to a reverse split,,,i know the exhaust in our stock heads is weak compared to the intake, so, if not going with heads, would i be better with a reverse instead of the cheater? i know,,,damn newbies.

I have the same question.. especially with stage 2 heads being on sale for $1095. I'm thing a $369 cam plus $1095 heads sounding stock and stealthy would be the best value ever.

My stage II patriot & CheatR combo makes 388 rwhp through a 12-bolt. Through a 10-bolt I bet it would be 400 rwhp. A fast intake would probably put me over 400 also. So yes, I think you can do it with the Patriots. If you run headers you will be well over 400, but if i was going to run headers I would choose another cam.
