Default yep i'm an idiot

so yeah, i got my motor in pieces out in the shop right now. crank is sealed up in the bag from the machine shop, so is block. put the heads in some clear plastic bags and set them next to crank and block. put the pistons/rods in a box and set them beside everything else-uncovered-like a moron. i dont know what i was thinking when i did that. well now most of the rods have some light surfface rust on them. also there is alittle where the bearing goes in.

am i gonna be ok to take a little scotch brite and some cleaning solution and knock that stuff off?

Probably just some WD40 would work a wonder.

Or PB blaster. You should be okay as long as it was the surface the bearing sits in. Its not like its the crank journal.

Hit them real lightly with some atf and a green scotchbrite pad you'll be fine.

well a little update here, hit them real lightly with atf and a green scotch brite and they all look good now. they are safely stored with a nice coat of atf in a sealed up box.

Good thing you caught it before it progressed and started pitting. Glad you got it taken care of bud!
