MAP connector in the back of intake is loose!!

Default MAP connector in the back of intake is loose!!

Is this a problem? The MAP sensor wiring connector in the back of the intake is loose. I can move up and down, and rotate it, and it moves in and out. What seals the back of the intake. It feels like it is ready to fall out. What holds it in there. Do I need to take it out and fix something???

Shouldn't be as long as it isn't coming out...sits in some kind of rubber bushing. Some people put a bead of RTV around it after doing intake swaps...but if it hasn't come off or has a vac leak, you are fine IMO.

That's what concerns me, is it leaking vaccum, how can I tell. I'm trying to tune the ECU and geting some funny numbers. I can't hear any leak. How else can I tell if it is leaking.

What type of intake? If it is the FAST then yes it is normal. If it is anythinng else (LS6, LS1) it shouldn't be loose.

LS6. I remember looking at it before I put that intake on, and I really did not understand what was holding it in there. Is there some kind of O ring? But there is no clamp or holder, it just sits in there??

There is a orange corragated gasket like the ones used for any of the other electrical connectors. On my FAST intake, I had to use some sealer in conjunction with the gasket, the hole on the intake is slightly too big.

Yeah, there should be an orange gasket on the end of the map sensor that plugs into the manifold.

Does that gasket seal off the vaccum?
Is that just a seal for the connector, or is that the actual vaccum seal for the intake pressure? The big question is do I need to take off then intake and fix this thing, or is it OK for it to be loose? Is it a possible vaccum leak.

There should be a plastic clip moulded on your intake holding your MAP in place. If it is broke off you can use TWO plastic tie wraps crossed over and around MAP to hold it in place.

Mine is a little bit loose. I mean, its held in by the clip, but my orange gasket looks like it would be able to leak a little bit... I might try some RTV myself...

Exactly, on the LS6/LS1 intake there is a bracket the mp sensor slips onto to hold it in place. The FAST intakes doen not have these. Sounds like your is broke or you didnt put the sensor on it. On my FAST intake I just put some glue on the sensor then let it dry over night. Seems to have worked.

While tuning watch you MAP reading for incosistencies or a stedy low pressure. Mine was cooming out on me at the track and it showed up in the log because of my MAP pressure being so low @ WOT

Looks like the intake has to come off tonight. I don't remember any clip back there.

I just wrap it with some thread tape until it gets a nice snug fit. The ls6 intake comes with a little plastic clip that holds it in place.

No worries friends. It was just the connector, the MAP sensor is solid. The connector is clipped onto the hose fitting for the power brake. The connector moves up and down. The hose fitting is part of the sensor, it's all one piece of plastic. If the plastic fitting for the brake hose moves, you have trouble. I took the intake off and put silicone sealer around the sensor to make sure there are no leaks.
