looks like debris were in there.but no valves spark plugs miscellaneous bolts lost in the intake manifold.............im not too sure if detonation would gash in those patterns..who put in the camshaft....

unless detonation took a good chunk off the top of the piston and bounced it around...ms3 being a big cam...mabey the tune was too much for the fuel injectors.

The size and shape of all those dents looks like the electrode from the #7 plug was bouncing around.
Are you sure it's the right plug? Take it out and report back the numbers.
Maby someone accidentally grabbed the wrong one and installed it.

What the hell is up with the RTV on the front cover?
GM spent tons of money on developing the bad *** gaskets we get to use.
Take it somewhere that deals specifically in LSx's to have it tuned next time.

i did put the cam in the spark plug is fine nothing got sucked in i think when part of the piston broke it did that damage and if you look the cylinder is craked in 2 places i think it was pre ignition from timing i dont know what else whould have cracked the cylinder

I dunno how much timing you had in the car, but to do that it must have been alot, or maybe you got some gas at a station that put 87 in a tank of 93, and then proceeded to hammer on the car hard on a really hot day... or you're fuel pump took a crap and things went really lean.

The way that piston has a hole melted in it looks like a nitrous detonation/hot spot type situation... were you spraying the car at all?

It is funny that more often than not it is #7. My friend just wiped out #7 he had 59cc AFR's, I think his CR was like 11.6-11.8. The outer edge of the piston came off at 10-11 oclock. Lean or detonation.

it looks exactly like mine. debris was stuck in my intake when I pulled it apart(not sure what it was). My plugs were also fine.

That does not look like its from detonation. Looks like something was in there
