Default Target DCR?

What should I shoot for? My 383 should be in the 11.6-11.8 SCR with everything set up right and ~.044" quench (more than I would like, but need to keep the SCR down some). I can get 92 octane gas with or without 10% ethanol and 93 octane only with 10% ethanol 95% of the time. Sometimes I might need to use 91, but I'd just take it easy then. I'm looking at cams in the 238 242 range(+- a few degrees) with 113-114 ICL/LSA to keep the DCR down. I was thinking a DCR in the 8.3-8.4 range, but what else would you guys suggest?

That should sound about right. Heat (from the weather and from heat soak) is gonna play the biggest role in how much DCR you can run on pump gas. It's all pretty much a guessing game though. The name of the game is to run the highest DCR possible without detonation, so there isn't really a set number to shoot for.

Thats what I figure. I just don't want a bunch of problems running the car. I officially have owned my ZO6 broken longer than running.

Anybody have any other cam suggestions? If you use a DCR/SCR calculator just keep in mind I have ~11.85:1 SCR. I figure the cam I listed above is right between midrange and top end for a 383 and with the correct DCR it should put down some nice power. I plan on adding a Fast 90/90 setup next year or so.

Welcome to the club. My car has been running (reliably) for 4 months out of the past two years. This is the first summer I've been able to cruise in it for a couple years. I must say, it's nice to cruise in the summer
