Default 4.060" bore LS1

What is typical cost to have a used LS1 block resleeved to accept a 4.060" bore? - and who in the southeast does this?

Thanks

Any reason for 4.060"? There are two ways to resleeve--wet and dry. The wet setup is a minimum of 4.120", I believe, and the dry is not all that great on the LS1 (but fine for the LS2). Darton's MDS Resleeved block can run upto a 4.200" bore on an LS1 and would run just a little more than a dry sleeved setup ($2k-2500).

It would be cheaper to buy an iron block 6.0L, sonic check it, and then bore it out to 4.060" if you are set on that number.

But, if you are set on a resleeved block, contact Steve Demirjian of Race Engine Development. He is the best in the business and is the co-developer of the Darton MDS sleeve.

Just guessing you have probally over heard someone talking about their motor being 4.060 and they are driving around in a F body. So you assumed he had a 4.060 LS1, when he probally had a 4.060 iron block and not the aluminum 5.7 that comes stock.
I have never seen a aluminum 4.060 LS1 but that dosen't mean it isn't possible.
Anyways the normal cost of a 4.060 bored 6.0 iron block complete is around 3000 dollar. That includes aftermarket pistons, rods, berrings, rings, etc and a stock crankshaft.
Do some research and let us know what exactly your looking for.

Compression is just 1 thing that improves.
There are many advantages.
The common ones being.
Compression
Larger cubic inches.
Larger bore
Stronger parts
More power
There are many more benifits that could take hours to explain.

There's nothing to research, the drag class I am running allows up to 4.060" bore, and I need to stick with the aluminum block to meet minimum weight for the class. I'm interested in a finished 4.060" bore bare aluminum block only. Pistons, pins, and rings I will get custom CP.

You're going to have to run an LS2 block and dry sleeve it to get 4.060". You can do an LS1 and run the risk of dropping the sleeve...

LS2 can be bored to 4.030" safely (Shirl Dickey does this).

With the LS1, I just don't see 4.060" happening, but I've given you the name of two respected block gurus. Give them a call and see if they can't set you up with something. Allan Futral is also someone who would be good to get in contact with. He is just outside of Baton Rouge.

itchygomey98 Has a resleeved LS1 block running a 4.06" bore and 4" stroke=> 414cid. So it can be done, it's a lot costlier than just running a 4" bore LS2 and investing in a killer head (like the ETP LS7 heads). You're not going to make but a few more hp (maybe 7-10) to justify the extra expense.
