Default Valvetrain Noise?

I recently purchased a 2000 Trans Am with 68,000 mi. I noticed that there is a ticking noise in the top end somewhere. I have heard that the injectors make a little noise, but it more than that. I am wondering if it is lifter noise or a rocker. thanks for the help.

Exactly does anyone know what that noise is? Is it fixable?

The piston slap noise that is common with some ls1's happens worse when cold, if you have a top end noise that increases in frequency with RPM I would isolate which side and pull that valve cover. Seems every now and then the stock rockers dump their needle bearings, you may be hearing the sound of a rocker with no bearings. Eventually the needles end up on the drain plug magnet and most owners discover it when doing an oil change. Just an idea based on what you describe, More info would help too if that is possible. Good luck.

I would have to say it is in the top end. It isnt down inside the motor it sounds rocker or lifter noise. And it does increase with rpms until about 3000 and it becomes less noticable if not gone.
