Default swapping dex-cool to G05?

i threw in a 160 thermostat and put the coolant temp sensor in the back of the passenger head today at work. i already dumped a lot of the dex cool out so i just hooked up the flush machine and flushed the rest out and put valvoline G05 in it. anyone else run this in their cars? i put the stuff in cars all the time, but with an all aluminum motor i figured i'd ask to see if anyone's had any trouble with it.

It's used in new ford's and chryslers. Is it expensive?

I doubt you'll have any problems as long as you got ALL the dexcool out, which isn't easy to do.

In my opinion, Dexcool is a better coolant and there is no need to switch.

As someone specialize's in cooling system. You will be fine. I currently run the same combo. The dex and GO-5 are both good coolants. I just like the additive package in the Go-5 better. Dexcool has its Problems. Not as much in lsx motor's but I still see sporatic issues in these cars too. GO-5 is a more forgiving than Dex.

My understanding is that the newer coolants were designed to provide extended service life. They don't perform better, they just last longer.

Actually, they do perform better. Lower surface tension is better heat transfer. No silicates means better seal life and they are more compatible with the aluminums and other metals that are used.
