well the car is stock except long tubes and a lid and yesterday i heard the ping/ detation. any idea why it would do that with basic mods?

i just put the car back together this past weekend and had to have the computer reflashed back to stock because my cam and 370 are no longer in the car and when i had the stock program put back in the car i forgot to have the egr stuff turned off so the check engine light is on could that be affecting it. or could it just be some bad gas???

oh one more thing will the check engine light affect gas mileage just curious because im driving cross counrty this weekend
