28000 Miles.. headgasket failure?
Of course its possible - anything is.
If you have a head gasket failure, I'd say its more related to the time period...your 2000 SS might only have 28,000 miles, but it is 6 years old.

when i drive teh car for long periods of time the car gets too hot and coolant starts spilling out of the overflow tank. theres no leaks in teh system, changed the stat, rad cap, and did a rad flush. i doubt its the coolant temp sensor as the car runs perfectly fine. both of the fans work..
Could be the reason why your head gasket blew...overheating will significantly reduce head gasket life....I suggest you find out why it is overheating, or you will destroy your new head gaskets after you replace them. Did you remove that plastic air deflector thing underneath the car?

i put a gas analyzer in the overflow tank and the HC was nothing to be worries about.
