Default Using a truck LM7 intake on 408

Guys,

My 408 project has hit a snag...my budget has basically evaporated...I have everything but a new 90mm TB for my engine...so I'm sitting here at work contemplating whether to wait on the TB or just go home, bolt on the stock intake, drop the new engine in, and tune it up at the shop to see how she runs..... I have the following:

408 iron block
LS 243 CNC'd heads
forged crank, rods, & diamond dished pistons
Torquer2 cam
10:3 SCR
7.95 DCR
.041 quench
true dual exhaust

Should I wait for the 90/90 set-up?..

or

drop the stock intake/TB setup in and start driving? How much power will I lose by using the stock Intake and TB with above set-up vs 90/90?

That torquer2 cam is gonna be pretty small in a 408, and the truck intake will make great power down low, but the long *** runners will kill top end power.

I don't believe I have adequate P/V clearance with a .040 head gasket ( I did the clay tests several times and thought the results were too close, like around .060 - .080.....so I went with a .051 cometic head gasket for extra insurance. Don't get me wrong, I'd really like to have better S/DCR values but don't think I have a choice without doing something major at this point...

What would you recommend?

I don't know how with forged DISH pistons and that small of a cam you are having any P to V problems..... maybe the pistons are in the motor backwards?

funny...but no. The heads are milled too... (.015 which isn't that much). How much of a reduction in performance am I really sacrificing by reducing the DCR from 8.3 to 7.9 with the bigger gasket? I mean, I could take a chance and run the tighter quench...but for a daily driver...do I really need to?... I'll probably lose what...10hp?...

Do you already have the intake but no throttle body?

It's not about just losing horsepower, it's about losing area under the curve and driveability with a slacking DCR.

Yes, I have two intakes (truck and LS2) to choose from...stock TB works with the truck intake only....I have to wait until my budget improves before I get the 90mm/LS2 TB.

So, I guess I'm at the point of either putting it all together with what I have....or waiting and taking some risks with the .040 gasket later.....what would you do?...If I knew how much the lower DCR actually affects the performance it would be easier...
