Default Doing Cam Swap - What Parts?

I know everyone will say do a search but I already have. I just need to know what parts I need to get to replace the cam in my car. I'm running LS6 heads, will the springs hold up to a mild cam? And does anyone have the part numbers of all the pieces I'll need to switch? I know on the cam I want I can still run stock pushrods.
And one more question, are the pushrods on the ls6 heads the same length as on the ls1?

Ok I'm buying a used cam, 224/230 114+2 LSA .581/.592.

Would it be safe to run stock springs off low mileage ls6 heads? And can someone tell me what I need to replace as far as gaskets, timing chain/cover etc. I cannot find a good enough post in a search as specific as I would like, so thanks a million if someone can help

what car do u need it for? besides for that u need this:

1) change ur springs, absoluty no point in risking it using ur stock ls6 springs, just get some 918s (should be good enough), and u can rev higher.... and not that expensive
2) u need at least to put on a ls2 timing chain or better...
3) u need a front cover crankshaft gasket, 21 bucks for gm dealer, be careful installing it
4) u need hardened pushrods, stock ones suck, i dont know what size for that cam
5) u should be able to reuse ur stock timing cover gasket, i think, i dont know what year ur engine is
6) if u have a 98-99 engine u need water pump gaskets.....
7) if u have 98-99 u should change ur oil pump
i think thats about it

I think you'll need 918's at a minimum. most here would probably recommend duals. either patriot or PRC. I like the patriot personally cause they use the super 7 locks.

here's a quick list of what you'll need, thought I don't understand how you can't find a list on this site. If you go to any of the sponsors, they should have cam install packages, although i'll admit you dont absolutely NEED every gasket you get.

At a minimum you'll need

New crank bolt
timing cover gasket
front seal
and you might want water pump gaskets just to be one the safe side, sometimes the rubber edges separate when you take them off.
tool to hold up the lifters
tool to do the springs
pushrods

you can change the timing chain and oil pump if you want, I didn't do it on my first swap cause my car only had 30k on it. It's good insurance, even if you just get the LS2 chain and another stock pump.

thats about it, refer to ls1howto.com if you need any help with installing.

I would switch to a 918 spring if I were you at the minimum as well.

YEah, the LS1HOWTO.com has a list of everything that you need and might want. Just look under the F-body cam swap post. Right at the begining he covers the tools and other stuff you need

I would not use the same springs. Replace them. Go here for Cam replacement writeup: http://www.bowlingss.com/Mods/Instal...stallation.mht

Good luck.

How hard are the springs to install? Is it something I could do or would a machine shop have to do it? My dad something about having to adjust the valves too?
thanks again

I dont mean to dog you bro. You can not use stock springs with this cam.
But that is a very good cam that you selected. Very streetable and it flatout kicks butt
Use CompCams 26918 springs if you are useing 1.7 Rocker (stock ratio)
1.75, 1.8, 1.85 Rocker use CompCams 26921 Dual springs

LS6 springs can only handle ~.550 lift. You'll need to go with some Comp 918's.

I just want to know how hard the springs are to install, do I need to take them to a machine shop. my dad mentioned something about having to adjust the valves and a whole lot of other stuff, but if it's pretty much a simple swap on the head then that's awesome.
thanks
