Well, the cheap way involves pulling the header, and removing the broken bolt if you are lucky.

Chances are good though, that you won't be able to just pull the bolt, which means that the bolt will need to be drilled out, and depending on it's location, might mean pulling the head.

I have a broken header bolt in the first spot in the driver's side as well. I tried to drill it out, but only made things a mess. I'm going to be pulling the head and having a machine shop tap the hole and then helicoil all of the header bolts. I will then be using some type of washer to make certain I don't bottom out another bolt again.

First off, the bolt is not in the Block. Its in the Head, and I would prob pull it and get it fixed at a shop. Just my .02

How and why did break? Is there any part sticking out of the head or did it break flush?

They make a bolt removal kit for just such things. I broke a rocker arm bolt during my cam install on my last car and was able, after about 1 1/2 hours, to back the bolt out. Take the header off and try one of the removal kits first(should be at any autoparts store). If this doesn't work then take the head off. This is what I would do.

I'm with him on this one. Try the bolt removal tool first.
