Default Question- Gut or remove the cats?

It looks like a pain to weld some pipes in place of the cats on my 2000. Would it just be as good to gut them?

Do you have the stock manifolds with cats?
If there stock I would just get headers with the off road Y-pipe.

Yea I have the stock cats. Can't really afford to buy headers for a whil because i just spent a bundle on headers for my C5

I would try to weld a pipe in there for max effect
