I think for once I'm going to wait until the component breaks, or at least shows some wear before I replace it.

Put a tire on the car, it won't last a day at the track. Especially when your riding the clutch out at 5k.

I think an LS7 clutch is in the works for this Winter. I can't see the stocker lasting if I launch hard with good tires.

I believe it... thats why i race on the street on street radials.

Plus I always do alot of revmatching during downshifting and keep of the clutch pedal when sitting at lights.

Now back to your reg scheduled program....

id think twice on that, the LS7 is much heavier since its designed for a 427ci. the flyheel is a larger rotating mass as well.

Yeah I'm still just planning. I read that the set up people are using on the LS1's is the LS7 friction and pressure plates along with the LS2 flywheel.

Is it all that bad to have a heavier clutch? The clutch is balanced and rotating in a perfect circle, unlike the reciprocating stuff that's attached to the crank.

You can also couple it with a lightweight flywheel.

Cant tellyou that for sure since I dont have it in my car. although Im always reluctant in putting heavier parts in my car. Yes I did compare weight difference between a stock one and LS7 and it was enough for me to look elsewhere.

alum lightweight flywheel is an option as stated above. for vettes they cause added drivetrain noise in neutral but work real well.
