Default mains question

so, im rebuilding my motor, it is very difficult to turn over, i was told that if the main bearing caps are on backwards itll be very difficult to turn over. so my question is this. if the motor is upside down, the numbers should all be on the right side of the block, is this correct?

I assume you are using the stock main caps. Numbers 1-4 are on the driver's side of the block while number 5 is on the passenger side of the block. Use a torque wrench to turn over the motor and tell us how much torque is required to turn it over.

The little ears on the end of the main caps were the numbers are 1-4 should be pointing twored the rear and the #5 cap is pointing twored the front. and the inside of the block were the side main cap bolts go is machined ,so the caps will line up with the side bolts holes. and bearing locks will be stagered (not) on the same side ,or on top of each other

nope, im further, my crank is all in now and torqued, im putting the rings on as i type. im just wondering which one of the two goes on top. i know the oil rings and they are fine. but there seems to be a black thicker ring and then a narrower black ring with a silver outside, i need to know which goes on top
