Will I have to flycut?
I have an AZP02 cam, I don't know the exact specs because they're "secret", but apparently they are very very similiar to a G5X3. I think the lift is the same, just the duration is different by maybe 2-3 deg. My question is, if it clears stock heads on my 98 now, will it still clear either Patriot's Stg 1 CNC'd LS6 heads with stock valves or TSP PRC Stg 1 CNC'd LS6 heads with stock valves without flycutting, and will I be stuck with a regular gm MLS gasket or can I squeeze in a .040 cometic? I'm torn between the two heads at the moment. I hate to even pose the question without the specs, but just hoping since it clears now, it will clear these heads too. Thanks for any and all info...

Isn't the G5X3 around 235/240ish duration? I'd suggest a .040 gasket and milling to 11:1 static compression. If you do that with a 235/240ish cam, then you'll almost definitely have to fly cut regardless of stock valves. I personally wouldn't suggest aftermarket valves because of how much PTV clearance they eat up (unless you’re willing to do all the work and calculations to get every last bit).

Both heads are stage 1 LS6's so they may work. Best way is to put them on the engine and measure before start-up.
You compare two cams that both have secret specs. I do know the G5X3 specs, but won't tell out of respect for LG.

I didn't think the X3 was much of a secret anymore. I know I've seen the specs on here at one point or another. But yeah, I'll clay it and double check anyway. I would really just rather not flycut if at all possible. I'm not looking for every last bit so I'm sure stock valves will be fine. thanks for the info fellas...
