Boost + stock bottom end = ?

Boost + stock LQ4 = ? Just picked up a '03 LQ4(iron block 6.0) this weekend and I was kinda wondering how much boost the stock stuff could handle reasonably?

I agree, about 10# is the limit, should run great even at that amount of boost on that motor. You push it too hard, pistons start coming apart, believe me, I broke 3 of them.
because its an LQ4 it has low compression. 8:1 i think. stock LS1s have held 10 psi no problem, and thats with 10:1 compression. there have been several guys who have pushed stock LS1 bottom ends past 15psi.
my guess is that with that low compression ratio you could proably see 15-20 psi alright.. but thats just my guess. you should post in the force induction section, thats what its there for. ringlands will give up before anything else. but you should get rodbolts for sure, expecialy since the motor is out of the vehicle right now and its something hard to relace with the motor in the car.

The LQ4 I believe is right at 9.4:1. No way could you consider running 20psi. If it's really 9.4, with a good tune and meth/FMIC you could run 12-13 without blowing it up.
