question about a knock....
i have a knock to my motor, never there when cold only when warm... i can mainly hear it when im parked on grass and i can hear it on concrete too but the grass kinda muffles the turndowns so i can hear it, it kinda sound like rod knock but gets quiet with rpms of the motor, i have comp cam 215/ .567 114 and comp 918 springs, it doesnt sound like a lifter it clearly comes from the crank as you can not hear it from the top. One of my very respected ls1 people said that when the car is hot it makes more noise because the oil gets thin or somethin, im runnin quaker 4x4 synthetic 10w40 and the car has 101,k let me know if you have this slight knock too, i repeat its not a tap its more of a light knock or clank
my buddy's '00 b4c car has had a "light knock" for almost 35k now. the car has 160k total on it, no easy miles. i'd keep an eye on your oil, possibly open up the filter next time you change it. otherwise - let the floggings continue. these are very noisy engines.
it never did it until i put the cam i (i dont think) i changed the oil after the cam swap 2,000 miles ago...... im puttin in a new cam sometime soon im shooting for doing it before i do my next oil change so i can do it all in the same day.... it just sounds like rod knock to me but i really dont want to believe that it is because my buddys 2000 ls1 camaro knocks like crazy until its 160* degrees but mine doesnt start until about then...... exact same sound though
