Usually with a lifter... the tapping will increase / decrease with the rpm.

i noticed a noise on my car almost a month ago , when i give it gas at around 1,000-1,500 RPMs i hear a noise but above that i dont hear it. might be my exhaust is abit loud....but ive taken it to 2 different performance shops in my area and they both said its normal....but to me it doesnt saound normal..it sounds like something is falling apart in there. the noise is not extremely loud , you sometimes gotta listen for it. i told one of the guys if it was possibly a lifter or rocker and he said "it would make a much louder noise" so i dont know what to think now does any one have clips of both a rocker and a lifter noise?? when they go bad ofcourse..and are there any other signs besides a noise when they go bad??

my mods are lt headers, lid, ory........

the spraycan rattle sounds like what happened in my 96... ended up being a collapsed lifter... rattled like a shaken spraycan and got faster/slower as the car reved up/down... now the lt1 has ls6 lifters...

The car ran really bad, huge loss in power, alone with the loud noise. As far as the ses light i had a few other issues at the time so i don't know if that by itself would cause the ses light to come on...
